I have been having a lemon (lime) ice every night for the past week. No, not the type of lemon ice you're thinking of that they have at the fair and it tasted like frozen lemonade. This type of lemon ice, my mom and I used to make when I was litte. Before that, she and her friend Sheila used to make them.
Recipe:
Shaved Ice
Salt
Juice of 1 or 2 lemons (or limes)
That's it. It's the most sour thing you'll ever eat. :) And I've been choosing limes because they are, in my opinion, way more sour than lemons.
I've always been a bigger fan of sour than sweet. Even when I was little. Now that I'm pregnant, though, the cravings have become insane. All I want to eat are salty/sour things. My fridge is full of olives, a bottle of lemon juice, pickled asparagus, 2 jars of pickled, pickled garlic, and one of those spicy/sour garden mixes. Plus, I buy lemons and limes every week at the grocery store. It's not a huge problem, since, being pregnant, your body does require more sodium than normal, and since I'm drinking insane amounts of water to balance everything out. But, the heartburn and stomachaches that come with eating just lime juice are not very pleasant. Especially the heartburn.
I'm not sure the stomachaches are caused by the sour though, because during this part of my pregnancy, my stomach feels a little uneasy after everything I eat, so maybe it's just having a hard time.
What did you all crave when you were pregnant?! Was your usual food addiction intensified or did you crave things totally opposite?
