what's in a name?

Robert and I have decided not to find out the gender of our baby. That being the case, we're coming up with both boy and girl names. We've already pretty much agreed on the boy name, but we're having lots of trouble agreeing on something for the girl. I've been obsessed with baby girl names my entire life. I used to make up names for my dolls when I was younger, and the one I remember most is Treeka. I think it was a mixture between the word tree and truck with an 'a' on the end because I was at Winfield and the first two things I saw were a tree and a truck. I was like 5, so don't judge. :)

Here's a list of what we have so far:

girls:

Joslin*
Kaelan
Ariah
Brenna
Madelyn
Afton
Raelan
Raegan
Kennedy
Kenedi*
Karter
Cordelia
Emelyn
Mandelyn
Abigail
Amelia
Isla
Valencia
Amari
Evelyn
Season
Arriana
Briony
Aura
Naome
Imogen
Sofia
Emilia
Arali
Eisley
Abrielle

The names with * by them mean that we basically agree on those about 90% and the names with strikethroughs mean we either totally disagreed, they're too similar to friends' baby names, or I just decided against them.

The problem, though, is that I don't really LOVE any of these names. Will I just have to wait 'til I see the baby and then it comes to me?

I want something either totally unique, classic (nothing trending), or something that means something to us or has another meaning (something foreign). I love Irish names like Aisling (pronounced Ashlin) but that one is just too close to my own.

Heck, who knows, we might not even have to worry about a girl name because it might not even be a girl.

What do you guys think? Do you know of any super awesome names that I might love? Leave a comment and let me know!

Oh, and the boy names we have picked out so far are Alec and Liam, which we're both pretty pleased with. :)

  1. Afton. Make it Afton. Liam if it's a boy.

  2. Don't spill too many of your names. People tend to steal them! My lips are sealed on mine. Something cute would be a mixture of both of your names, but I can't seem to make a good combination.

  3. I'll probably end up not using any of these, and I feel like they're all so weird that no one would use them anyway! lol. I just want something that I'm like..OMG, that's the name! but maybe i'll just have to wait til I see the bebe before I really know.
