food

Ever since I've been pregnant, I just can't seem to get enough to eat. The problem, I think, is that I won't let myself have anything that is at all unhealthy. I start feeling incredibly guilty if all I have to eat is chips or a snack or maybe a cookie, so instead I end up just waiting 'til it's mealtime which coud be hours away from the time I feel hungry. Also, everything is tasting completely different now and sometimes I'm just so dissatisfied with what I've cooked, that I just start crying and then don't eat at all. I know I'm not getting enough to eat, and I haven't gained any weight. I'm starting to get worried, but I'm just not sure how to incorporate this new diet into my life. I want to eat healthy foods, but I also want to eat enough and I'm just not sure how to combine those two things and still feel full. I feel like we've gone to the grocery store everyday this past week and we still dont' really have any food in the house to keep my tummy occupied between meals.

Any words of wisdom or advice would be appreciated!

  1. One of the ways you can get more to eat is to incorporate healthy fats. Adding a little olive oil to roasted vegetables is incredibly healthy. Also, you can try to drink nonfat milk with meals and that should help with extra weight gain. 1/4 cup hummus with fresh vegetables is also really good. Planning out your snacks a day or so before can help you make sure you get enough calories. By the third trimester, you are really going to need to eat snacks. It is very important to make sure your blood sugar isn't all over the place. Your snacks don't have to be high calorie to be healthy. I did vegetables and fruits for most of mine. My favorite ended up being a cup of grapes and string cheese. I didn't gain any weight until week 15.

  2. Yeah, I think the problem is just that I start feeling guilty for stuff. Like, even if I eat fruit, I'm like..Ugh..this is just sugar, I shouldn't be eating it! Or if I don't get enough protein, I get really frustrated with myself. I would love to snack on almonds or something, but for some reason, I'm not able to swallow them..they're too fibrous or something. I'm hoping my appetite just comes back like crazy soon! :)
